Nowhere here in the Middle

In 2005 the Australian Federal government announced its plan to build a radioactive waste dump in the Northern Territory on one of 3 department of defence sites. In 2006 a fourth site at Muckaty station was added to the list of sites proposed for assessment. Opposition to the proposal is widespread.

'Nowhere here in the Middle' travels to the Northern Territory to meet the Traditional Owners and community members living at the proposed sites, who explain their concerns for their families, Land and culture.

Dr Helen Caldicott explains the dangers of radioactive waste and the reality of living near a nuclear waste dump.

The proposed radioactive waste dump is an integral component of the government's plan to expand Australia's nuclear industry. Senators Trish Crossin and Christine Milne place the government's proposal in its national and international context.

An inspiring story of indigenous insight and resistance.
